Description

This train-themed activity was designed to help students learn how to have reciprocal conversations. It’s especially helpful for students with Autism, Cognitive Impairments, or other social difficulties. It contains 16 different conversations with 6 exchanges each, plus blank cards so you can create your own. This download also includes an ink-friendly version.

Directions:

Print cards, cut out and laminate for improved durability (and because laminating is fun!) Hint: After cutting out the cards, use codes or letters on the back to identify which cards go with which conversation. It’ll make organizing them a lot easier for you later if they get mixed up!

Playing Ideas:

  • Lay out all 6 (or fewer for younger students) statements for a conversation. Mix them up and have the student put them in the right order.

  • Lay out statements for multiple conversations and have the student
select which statement makes sense next.

  • Act out conversations
